Zipwhip Partners With Primary Wave Media to Bring Cloud Texting to Vanity Toll-Free Numbers

Collaboration Greatly Enhances the Marketing Value of Vanity Numbers

SEATTLE, WA–(Marketwired – Jul 29, 2013) – Zipwhip, which pioneered the concept of cloud texting, announced today that it has partnered with Primary Wave Media to make it simple and cost-effective for businesses to text-enable their vanity toll-free numbers.

In May, Zipwhip announced that it could equip all landline and toll-free numbers with its unique cloud texting capability. The partnership with Primary Wave Media — an integrated marketing and media company that has been licensing named vanity toll-free number marketing packages and local vanity numbers to businesses for more than eight years — makes it easy for businesses using vanity numbers to leverage Zipwhip’s offering.

Zipwhip and Primary Wave already are in discussions with leading businesses like 1-800-FLOWERS, which rely heavily on vanity numbers in their branding, to add the ability to send and receive text messages from those numbers.

“Vanity toll-free numbers are a huge part of the identity of many businesses and are important components of their advertising and marketing campaigns,” said John Lauer, CEO of Zipwhip. “This partnership allows us to significantly extend our reach in helping businesses leverage text messaging’s popularity as the go-to form of communication for so many consumers. Being able to send and receive texts over their toll-free numbers essentially doubles the marketing effectiveness of those numbers.”

Zipwhip’s cloud texting capabilities offer a more efficient and simpler alternative to marketing with short codes, which break from the familiar mobile experience because they require consumers to remember another number.

“This was a real eureka moment for us — it’s the upgrade for vanity toll-free numbers that we’ve been seeking for several years,” said Gregg Hamerschlag, founder and CEO of Primary Wave Media. “To us, Zipwhip’s solution is the holy grail. It makes the vanity phone number all things for all people. There is no learning curve — consumers know the numbers and they already text more than they talk, and businesses need to be able to communicate with them by text.”

Primary Wave Media licenses a wide range of shared-use toll-free numbers, including 1-800-CABLE-TV, 1-800-HOME-CARE, 1-800-HOSPICE, 1-800-HURT-NOW, 1-877-WINDOWS and 1-800-WIRELESS. Those numbers are used by smaller businesses on a regional basis and can also be text-enabled with Zipwhip’s service.

Zipwhip’s landline and toll-free texting services require businesses to make no changes to their existing numbers, service or hardware — they simply sign up with Zipwhip, download the app and start texting from any connected device. Zipwhip partners with landline operators to offer this functionality, and Zipwhip text messaging supports all web browsers, all desktop operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux), iPad, Android tablets, Amazon Kindle, and Windows 8 desktop.

“All phone numbers should be text-enabled, because that’s what consumers are demanding,” Lauer said. “By partnering with leaders like Primary Wave Media, Zipwhip is answering that demand and bringing the ability to text to every phone number.”

Marketing Mojo: New Tools Help Businesses Better Identify & Connect with Prospects, Customers

Primary Wave Media is another company powering mobile push messaging efforts. Its solution, called Intelligent Number, marries IVR with short code text messaging, and expands on the company’s traditional business of vanity business phone numbers.

Intelligent Number, explains Gregg Hamerschlag, CEO of Primary Wave Media, takes the vanity number and makes it relevant again. It does that by enabling both mobile and wireline customers to call into an 800 number and get coupons, request links be sent to their phones, and opt in to other company notices and opportunities. The service involves an up-front fee for the toll-free phone number and a package including 500 text messages, and the ability to buy additional text messages individually for 3 cents each or in bulk.

In addition to the digital marketing companies that use Intelligent Number to create solutions for their clients, Primary Wave Media is building its own brands based on Intelligent Number, Hamerschlag says. That includes 1-877-APPLIANCE, 1-800-NESTEGG, 1-855-NFL-MOBILE, 1-800-Prepare.com, 1-800-QUALITY, 1-855-ROMNEY-12 and 1-800-Wireless.

“By leveraging an Intelligent Number with existing voice services, organizations are able to provide prospective and potential customers with multiple options to ‘hand raise’ and receive customized marketing messages,” says Hamerschlag. “The information is delivered directly to customers’ handheld device via SMS, MMS, web or voicemail while the brand is able to seamlessly build a database of potential customers.”

NWH Looks to New Service for Quality Communication

Northern Westchester Hospital became the first hospital in the nation last month to participate in a new toll-free telephone number that promises to help the public learn more about its programs and services.

The Mount Kisco medical center signed on with Pleasantville-based Primary Wave Media, a company that licenses vanity phone numbers throughout the country, to offer 1-800-QUALITY. The number will allow callers to request information about the hospital, such as its diagnostic and treatment services and other programs. The alerts can also be delivered through text messaging directly to consumers’ phones or smart phones.

Primary Wave Media CEO Gregg Hamerschlag said he is optimistic that 1-800-QUALITY will be as synonymous with reliable programs as some of the company’s other high profile numbers relating to the health care industry, such as 1-800-HOSPICE and 1-800-HOMECARE.

“What our number can now do and what Northern Westchester Hospital is going to use it for is to disseminate information,” Hamerschlag said. “We have clients all over the country who use it. It’s really a difference maker in the market.”

Signing on to the number provides Northern Westchester with regional exclusivity to the number anywhere within the 914 and 845 area codes, he said. Hamerschlag said he wasn’t certain how many hospitals across the country might sign on to use the service but there were more than 125 homecare and hospice organizations that joined to participate in those toll-free numbers. Last week, a hospital was added in Delaware to cover that state and more are expected to be announced by the company.

Mark Vincent, vice president of marketing and communications for the hospital, said the 1-800-QUALITY service will allow its departments to better serve the community through its dedication to quality service and by using innovative tools.

“Patient service and a commitment to quality is what Northern Westchester Hospital is about,” Vincent said. “It’s going to reflect us and what we’re about.”

He said the hospital was made aware of the burgeoning service through a hospital employee who was familiar with Primary Wave Media. The employee suggested Northern Westchester should investigate whether it would be a benefit to them.

Hamerschlag, who founded Priority Home Care, Inc. a private home health care company before he sold it in 2005, said the number is more than just an easy-to-remember advertising hook but helps to drive call volume to the licensee and help build their businesses.

While Primary Wave has had experience with the health care some of its other highly successful telephone numbers that it has introduced into the market have included 1-800-CABLETV and 1-877-WINDOWS.

Primary Wave Media Introduces 1-800-DAILY-DEAL, First Mobile Platform to Deliver Hyper-Local Deals On Demand

Pleasantville, NY (PRWEB) October 11, 2011 – Primary Wave Media, the nation’s leading provider of branded vanity telephone number marketing services, today announces the beta release of 1-800-DAILY-DEAL, the only mobile deal platform that enables consumers to immediately access hyper-local deals and discounts on their mobile phones. Unlike other group buying services such as Groupon and LivingSocial, 1-800-DAILY-DEAL is driven by powerful, permission based, geo-location technology that determines exactly where consumers are at any given time to serve up on-demand offers from restaurants, retail stores and service providers via the company’s proprietary Intelligent Number(℠) Voice2SMS technology.

Currently beta testing in San Francisco, Primary Wave Media’s 1-800-DAILY-DEAL service is available to publishing partners who can license the right to use the program on an exclusive basis within any U.S. market, as well as to businesses seeking to offer deals to consumers.

When people call 1-800-DAILY-DEAL, a geo-location system determines where the call is coming from and whether it is placed on a landline or mobile device. Callers are then offered opt-in discounts or purchase deals at participating nearby businesses. Users who accept offers are entered into a CRM database to receive ongoing deals and promotions, a substantial value add for brands and marketers using the platform.

"The 1-800-DAILY-DEAL platform delivers relevant local deals when people are seeking them. It does not clutter up inboxes with dozens of deals that eventually annoy people and get ignored,” said Tim Heslin, CEO of Primary Wave Media 1-800-DAILY-DEAL.com, LLC. “The resulting relevance and immediacy of these deals represent tremendous potential for publishers and marketing partners."

The platform is a turnkey entry into the competitive daily deal space that can integrate seamlessly into multiple business initiatives. For instance, publishing partners can add their own deals to 1-800-DAILY-DEAL offerings and "upsell" the service to their current and prospective advertisers as a key component to made-to-order marketing packages. It can also be used to bring consumers back to publishers’ host sites for additional news and content, increasing site visits and generating ad revenue and valuable data capture opportunities.

"1-800-DAILY-DEAL is much more than an affiliate program. It can easily be branded, customized and implemented, representing true partnership potential to companies seeking to hit the ground running in the daily deal space," said Hamerschlag.

2010 USA Challenge Winner to Test Mobile Voting App at ION GNSS in September

The 2011 USA Challenge will give ION GNSS participants a chance to pick their favorite satellite navigation application from this year’s contest using eVotz, a mobile voting platform that won the competition last year.

Elliot Klein of New York developed eVotz to verify voter’s identities and location via a secure, mobile platform for location-enabled smartphones or tablets.

“eVotz is a better way to authenticate voting without paper, pencil, postage or traveling by car to polling locations and we do it using emerging mobile device Internet and hybrid GNSS technologies,” Klein said.

Five finalists will introduce their GNSS application and location-based service ideas in “fast pitch” presentations on Thursday, September 22, at 12:30 p.m. in the Portland, Oregon Convention Center where ION GNSS 2011 will be held. The USA Challenge 2011 competition was organized by Inside GNSS magazine and cosponsored by NovAtel, Inc., and the Institute of Navigation.

ION participants inside a virtual “geofence” within and around the convention center may use eVotz to select their favorite of the final five ideas. The winner will receive a bronze People’s Choice award at the Thursday event.

Mobile voting will take place using TechnoCom location technology and Intercept Networks, a joint venture between Primary Wave Media and TeleSmart Networks to enhance Intelligent Numbers with cloud-based location services and two-way messaging.

Here’s how it works: ION participants use their location-capable smartphone or other wireless device that takes them to an interactive voice option menu. Depending on the device features, they may be able to access the site by scanning a QR code. If they opt-in to receive SMS short code messages and hyperlinks, they’ll be able to cast a vote for their favorite USA Challenge finalist.

Klein said, “We apply the eVotz ‘secret sauce’ that verifies the voter’s location. We test it against the geofence–permitted postal mailing address radius to the Portland Convention Center area and confirm that it matches. eVotz allows a one-time vote and also matches the vote with other permissions in the eVotz server.”

As part of his award last year, Klein received support in developing his platform from the Position, Location And Navigation (PLAN) group at the University of Calgary. Klein said PLAN’s faculty helped him realize the potential of mobile phone sensors, including GPS and A-GPS, and using data from self-contained magnetometer, altimeter, or gyro sensors to authenticate geographical location. It was particularly useful for indoor locations, where people are most likely to use a smartphone or tablet, he said.

The USA Challenge is part of the European Satellite Navigation Competition, now a global event with competitors in 50 countries.

ION GNSS 2011 will be held from September 19 through 23 in Portland, Oregon, USA.

Don’t discredit the phone’s power despite social media

Several media outlets, including The New York Times, Wired and NBC’s Digital Life blog have reported that the telephone call is dying as a form of interpersonal consumer communication. However, from a marketer’s standpoint, the phone continues to be a valuable tool for turning prospects into customers and solving customer service-related problems. What may take multiple exchanges via email, text message or Twitter can be resolved in minutes through voice-based interpersonal communications.

No one is denying that text and social media are impacting the way our society communicates, but the jury is still out on their effectiveness as sales and marketing tools. While marketers debate the verdict, they continue to conclude that whether the goal is consumer engagement or lead generation, the end result of those efforts should be increased sales.

Putting all of your eggs, or marketing dollars, into the online basket, opens you up to the fickle nature of the Internet. A few months ago, Google changed its search algorithm, which immediately affected 12% of search results. Sites whose rankings rose to the top found that their traffic and revenue grew, but the adjustment had a negative effect on those that fell in the rankings, effectively shutting off their marketing pipelines instantaneously.

Marketers who fail to construct a balanced, multi-platform approach that places as high a priority on voice and offline engagement as it does on social and digital platforms, will miss out on valuable opportunities to facilitate authentic customer relationships. Customer-facing telephone numbers are becoming a single, mobile entry point to deliver multimedia content through various mobile messaging technologies. Some platforms that include ads and coupons are extensions of the phone’s link to digital tools and demonstrate how switching from communicating on the Web to the phone can be immediate and seamless.

Systems that prompt users to opt-in to receive content can enable marketers to collect CRM data. Such information helps marketers track when people are calling a number, from where, and the type of offers they accepted or rejected. They allow brands to build a mobile database of highly receptive customers and prospects.

Social networks might be all the rage, but a recent survey from interactive agency Razorfish found that despite the average person spending one out of every eight minutes online on Facebook, they do not use the site when they want to connect with a company. Overwhelmingly, consumers were inclined to go to company websites or talk to a company representative directly on the phone.

Primary Wave Media Launches another Marketing Solution: Daily Deal

TMC Net Financial Tech Spotlight

http://financial.tmcnet.com//topics/financial-technology/articles/188905-primary-wave-media-launches-another-marketing-solution-daily.htm

Primary Wave Media has unveiled another marketing solution called ‘daily-deal’ and it is designed to help consumers know who is selling what at discounted or promotional price in the area nearest to their location.

Consumers need to call a 1-800 number to let the service provider to know that they are looking for information on business deals, and in return Primary Media will connect them with the businesses concerned.

When a consumer calls this number, the location intelligence system at Primary Media will determine where the call is coming from. From there, the caller is offered an opt-in discount or purchase deal at a participating business within close proximity to his or her exact location.

Users who accept to receive deal offers are entered into a database to receive ongoing deals and promotions. Analysts say that it is a win-win deal for bother consumers and businesses.

Once their name reaches the database, they are informed regularly via SMS or MMS.

Primary Wave Media, which has traditionally been a provider of toll-free vanity telephone number marketing solutions, has recently sold its 1800CableTV.com business to Saveology.com.

“Considering the popularity of vanity telephone numbers and the countless industries and corporations that have been born around them, the natural evolution of the group buying industry is to now include voice and SMS capabilities through an industry defining platinum phone number,” said Gregg Hamerschlag CEO of Primary Wave Media.

“The marketplace has an appetite for this technology, as proven by the fact that we are already being approached by potential partners even during our beta phase. 1-800-DAILY-DEAL will give consumers a new, but extremely familiar, entry point to receive great savings right in their market.”

Other services realize the significance of mobile, geo-targeted marketing campaigns. Recently, LivingSocial (News – Alert) began running mobile video and voice-over ads within Pandora’s mobile app in order to offer consumers daily deals by real time location.
