			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Northern Westchester Hospital became the first hospital in the nation   last month to participate in a new toll-free telephone number that   promises to help the public learn more about its programs and services.</p>
<p>The Mount Kisco medical center signed on with Pleasantville-based   Primary Wave Media, a company that licenses vanity phone numbers   throughout the country, to offer 1-800-QUALITY. The number will allow   callers to request information about the hospital, such as its   diagnostic and treatment services and other programs. The alerts can   also be delivered through text messaging directly to consumers&rsquo; phones   or smart phones.</p>
<p>Primary Wave Media CEO Gregg Hamerschlag   said he is optimistic that 1-800-QUALITY will be as synonymous with   reliable programs as some of the company&rsquo;s other high profile numbers   relating to the health care industry, such as 1-800-HOSPICE and   1-800-HOMECARE.</p>
<p>&ldquo;What our number can now do and what Northern Westchester Hospital is   going to use it for is to disseminate information,&rdquo; Hamerschlag said.   &ldquo;We have clients all over the country who use it. It&rsquo;s really a   difference maker in the market.&rdquo;</p>
<p>Signing on to the number provides Northern Westchester with regional   exclusivity to the number anywhere within the 914 and 845 area codes, he   said. Hamerschlag said he wasn&rsquo;t certain how many hospitals across the   country might sign on to use the service but there were more than 125   homecare and hospice organizations that joined to participate in those   toll-free numbers. Last week, a hospital was added in Delaware to cover   that state and more are expected to be announced by the company.</p>
<p>Mark Vincent, vice president of marketing and communications for the   hospital, said the 1-800-QUALITY service will allow its departments to   better serve the community through its dedication to quality service and   by using innovative tools.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Patient service and a commitment to quality is what Northern   Westchester Hospital is about,&rdquo; Vincent said. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s going to reflect us   and what we&rsquo;re about.&rdquo;</p>
<p>He said the hospital was made aware of the burgeoning service through   a hospital employee who was familiar with Primary Wave Media. The   employee suggested Northern Westchester should investigate whether it   would be a benefit to them.</p>
<p>Hamerschlag, who founded Priority Home Care, Inc. a private home   health care company before he sold it in 2005, said the number is more   than just an easy-to-remember advertising hook but helps to drive call   volume to the licensee and help build their businesses.</p>
<p>While Primary Wave has had experience with the health care some of   its other highly successful telephone numbers that it has introduced   into the market have included 1-800-CABLETV and 1-877-WINDOWS.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The 2011 USA Challenge will give ION GNSS participants a chance to pick  their favorite satellite navigation application from this year&#8217;s contest  using eVotz, a mobile voting platform that <a href="http://www.insidegnss.com/node/2346" target="_blank">won the competition last year</a>.</p>
<p>Elliot Klein of New York developed <a href="http://www.evotz.com/" target="_blank">eVotz</a> to verify voter&#8217;s identities and location via a secure, mobile platform for location-enabled smartphones or tablets.</p>
<p>&#8220;eVotz is a better way to authenticate voting without paper, pencil,  postage or traveling by car to polling locations and we do it using  emerging mobile device Internet and hybrid GNSS technologies,&#8221; Klein  said.</p>
<p>Five finalists will introduce their GNSS application and  location-based service ideas in &#8220;fast pitch&#8221; presentations on Thursday,  September 22, at 12:30 p.m. in the Portland, Oregon Convention Center  where <a href="http://www.ion.org/meetings/gnss2011program.cfm" target="_blank">ION GNSS 2011</a> will be held. The USA Challenge 2011 competition was organized by <em>Inside GNSS</em> magazine and cosponsored by <a href="http://www.novatel.com/" target="_blank">NovAtel, Inc.</a>, and the <a href="http://www.ion.org/" target="_blank">Institute of Navigation</a>.</p>
<p>ION participants inside a virtual &#8220;geofence&#8221; within and around the  convention center may use eVotz to select their favorite of the final  five ideas. The winner will receive a bronze People&#8217;s Choice award at  the Thursday event.</p>
<p>Mobile voting will take place using <a href="http://www.technocom-wireless.com/" target="_blank">TechnoCom</a> location technology and <a href="http://www.interceptnetworks.com/" target="_blank">Intercept Networks</a>, a joint venture between Primary Wave Media and <a href="http://telesmart.com/" target="_blank">TeleSmart Networks</a> to enhance Intelligent Numbers with cloud-based location services and two-way messaging.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s how it works: ION participants use their location-capable  smartphone or other wireless device that takes them to an interactive  voice option menu. Depending on the device features, they may be able to  access the site by scanning a QR code. If they opt-in to receive SMS  short code messages and hyperlinks, they&#8217;ll be able to cast a vote for  their favorite USA Challenge finalist.</p>
<p>Klein said, &#8220;We apply the eVotz &#8216;secret sauce&#8217; that verifies the  voter’s location. We test it against the geofence–permitted postal  mailing address radius to the Portland Convention Center area and  confirm that it matches. eVotz allows a one-time vote and also matches  the vote with other permissions in the eVotz server.&#8221;</p>
<p>As part of his award last year, Klein received support in developing his platform from the <a href="http://plan.geomatics.ucalgary.ca/" target="_blank">Position, Location And Navigation (PLAN)</a> group at the University of Calgary. Klein said PLAN&#8217;s faculty helped  him realize the potential of mobile phone sensors, including GPS and  A-GPS, and using data from self-contained magnetometer, altimeter, or  gyro sensors to authenticate geographical location. It was particularly  useful for indoor locations, where people are most likely to use a  smartphone or tablet, he said.</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.insidegnss.com/esnc" target="_blank">USA Challenge</a> is part of the European Satellite Navigation Competition, now a global event with competitors in 50 countries.</p>
<p>ION GNSS 2011 will be held from September 19 through 23 in Portland, Oregon, USA.</p>

<p>No one is denying that text and social media are impacting the way our society communicates, but the jury is still out on their effectiveness as sales and marketing tools. While marketers debate the verdict, they continue to conclude that whether the goal is consumer engagement or lead generation, the end result of those efforts should be increased sales.</p>

Some platforms that include ads and coupons are extensions of the phone&#8217;s link to digital tools and demonstrate how switching from communicating on the Web to the phone can be immediate and seamless.</p>
<p>Systems that prompt users to opt-in to receive content can enable marketers to collect CRM data. Such information helps marketers track when people are calling a number, from where, and the type of offers they accepted or rejected. They allow brands to build a mobile database of highly receptive customers and prospects.</p>
<p>Social networks might be all the rage, but a recent survey from interactive agency Razorfish found that despite the average person spending one out of every eight minutes online on Facebook, they do not use the site when they want to connect with a company. Overwhelmingly, consumers were inclined to go to company websites or talk to a company representative directly on the phone.</p>

<p>Primary Wave Media has unveiled another marketing solution called ‘daily-deal’ and it is designed to help consumers know who is selling what at discounted or promotional price in the area nearest to their location.</p>
<p>Consumers need to call a 1-800 number to let the service provider to know that they are looking for information on business deals, and in return Primary Media will connect them with the businesses concerned.</p>
<p>When a consumer calls this number, the location intelligence system at Primary Media will determine where the call is coming from. From there, the caller is offered an opt-in discount or purchase deal at a participating business within close proximity to his or her exact location.</p>
<p>Users who accept to receive deal offers are entered into a database to receive ongoing deals and promotions. Analysts say that it is a win-win deal for bother consumers and businesses.</p>
<p>Once their name reaches the database, they are informed regularly via SMS or MMS.</p>
<p>Primary Wave Media, which has traditionally been a provider of toll-free vanity telephone number marketing solutions, has recently sold its 1800CableTV.com business to Saveology.com.</p>
